The Palestinian dialect is a colloquial Arabic dialect (Ammiya), part of the greater Southern Levantine dialect, that is spoken by the people of Palestine. The Palestinian dialect is considered to be the closest to Modern Standard Arabic, which is also known as “Fusha”. The pronunciation of many letters in the Palestinian dialect coincides with those of classical Arabic, with only slight modifications. Thus, mastering the Palestinian dialect aids in comprehension and refinement of standard Arabic language proficiency.

Studying Palestinian Arabic Online is also an ideal opportunity for those wishing to connect with the wider Palestinian diaspora and immerse themselves in the diverse culture of Palestine. Approximately 130 million people speak Arabic, not just in Palestine but among the Palestinian diaspora worldwide. It is one of the most widely spoken and recognizable dialects of Arabic. Palestinian Arabic, although a subdialect of Levantine Arabic, can itself vary between villages. Further variations are originating from the rural Fellahi and Bedouin and the urban Madani tribes. Despite these many variants and sub-dialects, Palestinian Arabic remains recognizable throughout Arabic-speaking countries and the Arab diaspora.

The culture of Palestine is rich and diverse due to its long history, geographical position, and religious significance. Palestine lies at a crossroads between Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean, and has played host to at least 5 major empires. Because of its significance in one of the most influential regions in the world, many speak and understand Palestinian Arabic.

Palestinian Colloquial Arabic closely resembles Modern Standard Arabic. MSA is the standard form used for writing and official purposes. This makes this dialect ideal for those wishing to study written Arabic or to use Arabic in professional environments.
